Dear Fellow Breeders,
During the past 18 months, we have assembled five horses for stud duty – four of which were high-caliber New York Grade I winners – with Teuflesberg having won the Grade II Woody Stephens (formerly the Riva Ridge) on Belmont Day. It was fitting that we began last September with the giant-talent Bellamy Road, who simply took my breath away while in training and caused me to dream about the stallion business again.
We are determined to offer fair stud fee value. Stud fees are far too high. Reach for your annual Blood-Horse or Thoroughbred Times auction book and ask yourself if there has been a disconnect between stud fees and the market for horses. Frenetic competition for stallions has driven the divide.
As a third generation commercial breeder I assure you that we have been and will continue to be passionate and realistic about our quality and its price…the stud fee to you. We also want to serve you with our people. Give us a call. You’ll find us to be both flexible and fair.
Obligingly,
P.S. You may remember that during my Vinery days, beginning with Red Ransom, we had a stretch of three Leading Freshman Sires in four years…a point worth considering because Artie Schiller and Bellamy Road are both coming off very successful initial books last year.
